Born and raised in the bustling North Texas city of Waxahachie, home of the federal government's famous failed Superconducting Supercollider project (soon to be replicated in Fort Worth as the Trinity River Vision project), Matt Morgan made his way to Fort Worth to attend Texas Christian University, where he majored in finance at the Neeley School of Business.
Matt prefers that we not tell you that his family partially disowned him for not attending Texas Tech University, where his parents and two brothers attended. But it is neither coincidence nor secret that Matt joined Woodard in December 2006, barely a week after Texas Tech's defeat of TCU's hapless basketball team. We suspect that Woodard became his refuge from the relentless Morgan family teasing, which flames no doubt were stoked by TCU's crushing 12-3 defeat of the Texas Tech Red Raiders football team just two months earlier. (Like the Morgans, the Woodards also have a split loyalty between TCU and Texas Tech, because while we graduated from TCU, it was Tech -- and not TCU -- which had the wisdom to publish our founder's book, Black Diamonds! Black Gold! But enough about us; back to Matt.)
Matt graduated number 8 in his class at Waxahachie High School, where his dad teaches agriculture and his mom, computer science. Matt is one of four at Woodard who graduated in the top 10 (that's top 10 people, not 10%) of their high school class. And you thought we were all just beautiful people.
Matt is as Texan as they come and is an avid hunter & fisher. His enthusiasm for fishing is so large that the fish in our company acquarium hide under the fake wrecked ship when Matt walks by. Matt also enjoys softball and skeet shooting.
Matt is the securities operations manager at Woodard, which means he executes your trades, prepares your periodic reviews, and keeps track of the hundreds of details required for investment management. His passion for investing started at 6 years old, when he purchased a bank CD earning 4.5%. Not a bad yield given the low rates of the 1990s. Matt received his General Securities License in September 2007 after passing the challenging Series 7 and Series 63 securities exams with flying colors.
